Wheelchair Sports Camp at Hi-Dive on 10/04/2012 08:30 PM MDT
Wheelchair Sports Camp
Wheelchair Sports Camp, the Denver based pseudo hip-hop band is Kalyn as MC/producer, Abi McGaha Miller as vocalist/saxophone, brother Isaac as live rhythm, and Christopher Behm-Meyer as DJ B*Money. The band unknowingly started in the summer of 1997 when Kalyn moved back from Burbank, CA to her Denver hometown and was invited to attend and corrupt the 14th annual week-long Wheelchair Sports Camp. Having grown-up listening to TLC, Salt -n- Pepa, Missy Elliot and The Pharcyde despite her parent's recommendations, Kalyn entered a talent show at the age of 12 rapping originial rhymes over a cassette of herself beatboxing. After meeting Abi and later brother Isaac in college, Kalyn combined talents to create a more live, jazzy, funky, combination to the traditional hip-hop group. And after hitting their groove with DMC national finalist DJ B*Money, they had everything a group could need to call themselves a good band. The unconventional setup of live instruments, turntables and Kalyn's produced beats, presents a polished sound unique to the hip hop game with old-school lyrics that maintain a sarcastic yet independent and heavy consciousness. After playing for a few years around the Denver metro area, the group has been fortunate enough to share the stage with headliners and mentors like Raekwon, Rahzel, Zion I, Souls Of Mischief, good friend One Be Lo & Binary Star, Blueprint, Mr. Dibbs, Macklemore, DubConscious, Pep Love, Astronautalis and many more. The band has played outside home in places including New York, Los Angeles, Portland, Seattle, and continues to expand their fanbase in further markets.
Wheelchair Sports Camp persists to stay passionate about many causes, playing shows to raise money and awareness to prevent domestic violence, support Haiti relief efforts, promote equality, advocate an end to the war in the Middle East, aid the homeless, and The OCCUPY Denver movement as well. Taking a nod from one of their favorite artists Radiohead, Wheelchair Sports Camp always has free or pay what you can CDs available at shows for fans. "If you can't afford music or food, steal it!" has been their motto since inception. Their goal is to spread their music like wildfire, and they encourage their fans to share and borrow creativity in hopes to conserve a free culture. To them, it's the only way to keep their music headed in the right direction without allowing money and greed to interfere with the creative process.
Men in Burka
"Men in Burka is the latest project of Kamran Khan ?the
Ramadan-Dadaist from Denver? who is best known for his work with indie art electronic group Modern Witch. The fascinating mind of electronic aficionado, Strange Powers and popular contemporary visual artist & fellow Modern Witch member Mario Zoots complete the trio. The first time you hear Men In Burka, a sultry kundalini rises from within and dongs a knell at the crusty lids of your mind?s eye. Occurring upon your spirit, addictive as black powder from Tangier. Men In Burka are the sultans of making an impression on your mind. It?s unforgettable.
Your brain softly drum-smokes with subtle aromatic tealeaves and dried fruits over an unrecallable time span. Such stickiness is powerful arsenal in an online music world overflowing with content upon content. This is real intelligent danceable world music heralding from the USA. Bounce music waves lap explicitly upon Mesopotamia/Indus Valley soundscapes and god?s soldiers who contemplate the decade?s affrays. Samples of gunfire, riot, upheaval and unrest litter the
tracks intermittently and constantly.

Indonesia Open GP Gold: Dionysius Hayom Rumbaka lands a title ...
Indonesia Open GP Gold: Dionysius Hayom Rumbaka lands a title berth in Men?s Singles category
Dionysius Hayom Rumbaka showed a great performance as he landed a title berth after defeating his lower ranked team-mate Alamsyah Yunus in semi-final match at the Indonesia Open GP Gold Badminton 2012 on Saturday, September 29, in Indonesia.
The World Number 19 Rumbaka, who has been positioned at number 4 in Men?s Singles main draw, continued his giant killing performance in front of his home fans and overpowered his team-mate in a superb three-set contest.
Rumbaka could not put up strong show in opening set but he powered his way back into the match in the following game. He played terrific badminton in the final set and wrapped up victory in rubber sets in 65 minutes.
The sixth seeded Yunus, on the other hand, played with precision in the opening game but failed to remain consistent in the following sets and eventually lost the match with a reasonable margin on the board.
In the opening game, both men played with tremendous precision and aggression and remained toe-to-toe until the mid-game interval.
After the break, Rumbaka tried to take advantage on board by playing with impressive precision but failed to put up strong show and ultimately lost the opening set with a tight difference of 19-21 on the board.
In the following set, Rumbaka showed his brilliance on court as he played positive and aggressive badminton this time and remained successful in taking a remarkable lead in opening half.
After the break, the fourth seeded Rumbaka continued putting up wonderful show without showing any mercy to his rival and managed to grab the second game with a stunning 21-10 difference on score board.
In the deciding set, Rumbaka continued his upper hand over Yunus by continuing his power play and managed to set up a good lead until the break.
Rumbaka remained consistent in his elevated play in the deciding half of second set and managed to win it with a superb margin of 21-14.
The in-form Rumbaka won the semi-final clash in 65 minutes with a 19-21, 21-10 and 21-14 score on the board.

Link Dump Friday - Walkthrough Guides, Reviews ... - Jay is Games
We're creeping closer to October, true believers, and it seems like our indie developers are feeling the nearness of all things spooky with some upcoming scary games. But it's not all monsters and nightmares on this week's Link Dump Friday!
A Little of the Ol' 2D Terror Using both Yume Nikki and Zelda to describe your game might sound odd, but Jon Kittaka and Sean Hogan's Anodyne, an upcoming commercial release for PC, Mac, and Linux, may just be able to deliver. It's all about exploring someone's dreams through 2D top-down dungeons, but you really should play the newly released demo to get a proper feeling for it. It's a surreal experience, at once both creepy and delightful because so much of the atmosphere is unsettling, and yet it perfectly captures that old-school Zelda gameplay. If you like mysterious narratives and classic dungeon-delving with freaky twists, then this is definitely one you'll want to keep an eye on for when it releases later in the Fall of this year. Having played the demo myself, I can tell you I think it's pretty darned neat indeed.
Oh Good, More Sleepless Nights Get ready for a whole new wave of hilarious reaction videos to horror as Slender developers Parsec Productions combine with Blue Isle Studios for Slender: The Arrival. There's little information so far apart from the word that it will be for PC and a commercial release, but Parsec is calling it the next installment in the saga, and promises more levels, improved visuals, and, perhaps most intriguingly, an engaging storyline. I'm personally of the opinion that the less you know about a thing the scarier it is, so I'd hope Arrival doesn't put too big a spotlight on every aspect of its horrifying star, but this could be the bigger, badder, more fleshed out game you were hoping for. Plus, I had a dream last night that it included "Jellyman Mode", which was about a gangly guy in a white suit whose eyes wept clotted blood and he would hug you to death with his long rubbery arms. So, uh. Whatever they have planned can't possibly be weirder than that. More details as they develop!
Building With Buddies If you have some friends you would like to play something that doesn't involve headshots with, you might consider the upcoming multiplayer PC RPG Olvand by the mysteriously named Woseseltops. Together with your pals, you'll get to build towns and go on adventures, including playing a whole bunch of minigames like King of the Hill, racing, or even fishing together. You'll even encounter randomly generated plants, and animals you can tame... including Allie Brosh's infamous Alot. This looks like exactly the sort of thing that would be perfect for light, cheery fun at the end of a long day or on a lazy weekend, so if it sounds like your thing, head on over to its official IndieDB page for more information.
Slimes and Stories on the Go Mobile gaming keeps growing, and so do the creative ideas developers keep having for it. Take, for instance, Oozengard, a planned open-world adventure game up for Kickstarter funding by Cranial Acid for iOS and Android. The game is about a city under attack by a strange ooze that mutates everything it touches, and it's up to you to find out the cause, save the city, and survive. You can rescue people, build safe houses, and try to complete the story as you explore the city. Each playthrough will only last sixty minutes, after which you'll be rewarded and can start over. The decision to force a time limit on a game that offers so much open exploration seems strange, but also sort of fits with the mobile gaming concept of providing pick-up-and-play entertainment whenever you have time to spare. A donation of as little as $1.00USD gets you a copy when it's released, so check out its Kickstarter page for all the details.
Like Autopsies For Funsies Making a game is a long, complicated process, and usually the developers have more to say about their own work, and more critiques, than the players and reviewers themselves. Pixel Prospector has assembled The Big List of Postmortems, and it's a fgreat read through for anyone who really loves games. The Postmortems cover both indie and AAA releases, and the insight (and hindsight!) the developers offer on every aspect of their work is fascinating as they talk about things like what they would do differently, what they felt contributed to their success (or failure) and more. I've always felt that understanding creators and the work they put into the things you enjoy provides some much-needed perspective for players, so give the list a look through today!
Do you know an upcoming indie project or some community gaming related news you think deserves some attention? Send me an e-mail with LINK DUMP FRIDAY in the subject line at dora AT casualgameplay DOT com with the info, and we'll judge it with the all-seeing glare of our own self-importance for inclusion in a future Link Dump Friday article!

Ideal Occasions to Rent a Private Jet | Jet Charter Spain
Riding on a private airplane is pretty much similar to getting your own chauffeured limousine, except for the fact that you're riding across the skies. With both, you'll have the privilege of exclusivity and command, minus the hassles of travel. But obviously, hiring a charter plane does not involve the same cost as that of a land vehicle, considering the enormity of transportation used.

Fans give refs a standing ovation
When Jets coach Rex Ryan told Joe McKnight that he?s been traded from the offense to the defense, McKnight took that as an indication that he?s not good enough as a running back.
Ryan says that was the wrong message for McKnight to get. Instead, Ryan thinks McKnight should take it as a compliment that the coaches think he has the talent to move to cornerback, even though he hasn?t played there since high school.
?I think Joe misunderstood,? Ryan told reporters today. ?We?re trying to teach Joe our defense. The coverages and things like that. He still has a role on offense. It?s not that he?s being forgotten as a running back, that?s not the case. I want him to learn the coverages and things like that on defense. The way the league is now, you almost can?t have enough corners. They?re going three, four, five, receivers or something, so you have to be able to match up. The one thing I know from a physical standpoint, [is] that Joe can, from a talent and a physical standpoint, he can match up. He can run. He?s got size. He?s got some natural instincts, and that?s what we?ve seen. When we used to put him on scout team, that?s what we saw. Yesterday, he actually picked off all three quarterbacks. That?s a good thing and a bad thing.?
Ryan heard that McKnight took it as a criticism of his ability as a running back, and that he thinks he didn?t communicate well enough to McKnight.
?That was certainly not the message that I wanted to send to him, so I wasn?t clear on that,? Ryan said. ?He?s got talent as a running back. The one thing I know about Joe is when given an opportunity, as a kick returner, he led the NFL as a kick returner, so I think that?s pretty impressive. He was the number one kid in the country coming out of high school. His talent is pretty special. I had a coach from USC tell me that the day he walked on campus he was their best corner. They wanted to play him at running back, but that?ll give you an indication of the kind of talent that Joe has.?
Ultimately, a player?s job is to play whatever position his coach tells him to play, and if Ryan thinks McKnight can help the Jets more as a cornerback than as a running back, then McKnight is a cornerback. McKnight shouldn?t have a problem with that.
