Junior dos Santos predicts second-round knockout of Frank Mir

The time for talking is nearly over as UFC heavyweight title-holder Junior dos Santos prepares to take on former champion Frank Mir this Saturday night at UFC 146. However, before the two collide in the cage each offered up a prediction on how their headlining bout will go.

?Knockout in the second round,? stated Dos Santos this week on UFC Tonight.

Not to be outdone, Mir went one step further, projecting a submission stoppage in his favor before the fight?s opening round had expired.

The only loss of Dos Santos? career was the result of an Armbar while all five of Mir?s defeats have involved a strike-based finish.

MMATraining Take: I think they have their projections reversed, at least in terms of time-frame, since I can see Dos Santos scoring a quick knockout or Mir latching on to a submission as the Brazilian?s cardio dwindles. I?d also say the first scenario is far more likely given Mir?s chin. He was almost knocked out in his last fight before making a miraculous comeback. Mir won?t be so lucky against ?Cigano?.
