One of the beautiful things about modern technology is its ability to allow us to capture and share wonderful moments. Sports Illustrated writer Richard Deitsch found a picture of brothers celebrating Yale University's hockey championship win on Twitter. Then, he sent out a tweet to his 87,000 followers asking, "How many of you have a photograph of the single best moment of your life?"
To Deitsch's surprise, hundreds of people tweeted emotional photos. Strangers sent pictures of marriage proposals, newborn babies, patients defeating cancer, and people coming back from time at war. "Never in my wildest dreams could I have expected hundreds of people sending me these incredibly intimate moments," Deitsch said.
Although the Internet has message boards of hateful comments and awful images, Deitsch's project shows that social media can be kind. "There's humanity out there and there is friendship out there and there's a sense of people wanting to pass on something good," Deitsch said.
