CARLETON SHOOTS FOR 10

WASHINGTON ? Chatham's Bridget Carleton had 10 points to help the under-17 Ontario girls basketball team defeat the Minnesota Suns 69-53 at the U.S. Junior Basketball Tournament on Monday.

Carleton was 3-for-4 from the floor, including 2-for-3 in three-point range. She was 2-for-2 from the foul line.

She also added seven rebounds and five assists.

GAGNER IMPRESSED

Vancouver Canucks director of player development Dave Gagner liked what he saw at the team's prospects camp recently.

?We are really pleased with the quality of the camp we've had,? the Chatham native said on the Canucks website. ?... They battled pretty hard, so you can see there was a lot of pride out there.?

Owen Sound Attack winger Kyle Hope of Blenheim was invited to the camp as an undrafted free agent.

Gagner said the camp was important because it gave management some face-time with the prospects and let both sides get to know each other away from the rink.

?During the week we get to interact with all the kids, so we get to know them all individually,? he said. ?During the season you are just watching them from afar, the invites especially, so it's good to get to know everybody.?
