Keiser University College Awards Wounded Warrior Scholarship

Keiser University College of Golf names Timmy Lynn King Jr., U.S. Marine, as the recipient of the Wounded Warrior Scholarship Award.

Port St. Lucie, FL (PRWEB) August 01, 2012

Keiser University College of Golf School has named Timmy Lynn King Jr. of the U.S. Marine Corp as the new recipient of the Keiser University College of Golf Wounded Warrior Scholarship. The scholarship will cover 100 percent of King?s tuition and educational expenses for the term which began on June 25, 2012.

King, a native of Ashford, Ala., joined the Marines in January 2004 and, during his service, he was deployed once in Afghanistan and twice in Iraq where he served as a squad leader of 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marines. He received a United States Marine Corp Certificate of Commendation and a Department of the Navy, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal. He was honorably discharged in May 2008.

King seeks to become a golf instructor and work with young people, just as he has done previously as a baseball instructor for children. He says he would ultimately like to become a golf course manager where he could give back to the community by developing programs that recruit and instruct young people who may not otherwise have a chance to play.

?The Keiser University College of Golf is deeply committed to supporting the men and women of our U.S. Armed Forces, and we are very excited to present Timmy with this scholarship in recognition of both his service and sacrifice to our country,? says John McMurry, Campus Vice-President of Keiser University College of Golf. ?Golf is a favorite career choice for many of our military veterans returning from overseas, and Keiser University College of Golf is actively working to help veterans from all branches receive the academic foundation they need for a fun and lucrative career in golf.?

Keiser University College of Golf also gives students daily access to several PGA Master Professionals, such as Brian Hughes, Dr. Eric Wilson, and Golf Magazine Top 100 Teacher T.J. Tomasi.

Keiser University?s Associate of Science degree in Golf program prepares students for a variety of positions in the golf industry. In this program, students are prepared to provide golf instruction, manage golf course operations, ensure appropriate maintenance of golf facilities and equipment, as well as integrate the play of golf into the broader hospitality and recreation domain. Keiser University's Bachelor of Science in Sports Management degree (with a concentration in golf management) focuses on the managerial and business aspects of a career in golf.
